NEW POLST!
We are pleased to announce the creation and launch of a newly revised Utah State Provider Order for Life Sustaining Treatment (POLST) / Life With Dignity Order (LWDO). This updated form was created by a consortium leadership
team under the direction of the Utah Commission on Aging. It is designed to be much
more streamlined and user-friendly.
Please be sure to spread the news and share this new link with your circles of influence.
Note: A Spanish version is still being worked on but will be posted as soon as possible.
"Aging in Community" Workshop
A five-week workshop is being offered by Sage Hill Cohousing exploring the popular Danish model of independent living for 50+ "Aging in Community".
Featured guest speaker during this series will be COA Member Keith Diaz Moore, Ph.D., AIA, Dean, College of Architecture + Planning. The workshop will be held
on consecutive Saturdays beginning February 21 from 9:30 am - 12 noon at Wasatch Commons.

Approximately 70% of this workshop series is designed to address the social, demographic
and economic realities of aging in the 21st Century - exploring the importance of supportive relationships, common purpose, co-care,
shared resources, and environmental stewardship. The other 30% will focus on the
built environment and how we create community out of carefully considered spaces that
embrace aging.

Save-The-Date April 24 Telecast
Caring Connections will again be hosting the Annual Hospice Foundation of America: Living with Grief telecast. This year’s presentation will be “The Longest Loss: Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia.”
The event will take place in the morning of Friday, April 24th at the University of Utah College of Nursing Annette Poulson Cumming Building (10 south 2000 East, Salt Lake City). There will be no cost for registration, which will open in early February. Please save the date—and watch for additional details on their webpage. Michelle Litchman, PhD student in the Bristlecone Pine cohort of the Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing
Excellence, has successfully defended her dissertation entitled, A Multiple Method Analysis of Peer Health in the Diabetes Online Community.

NIH Grant Opportunity
The National Institute on Aging invites researchers to submit innovative R01 research grant applications on aging and the family.
