Geriatric Nursing Program Update

Utah’s first interdisciplinary care management program was launched at the University of Utah College of Nursing in 2013 with 8 initial certificate students. We are pleased to announce that the program is growing. Eighteen students joined the first cohort working towards a master’s degree in fall 2014.

The program was developed through the support of a grant from HRSA, submitted by faculty within the University of Utah’s Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence, to create an educational pathway to become a care manager. The program offers population-focused, interdisciplinary online instruction and includes a geriatric emphasis. To read more about the creation of this program, please go to this link

About our Logo

The bristlecone pine tree (Pinus longaeva) - the earth’s oldest inhabitant with a life span of almost 5,000 years - is found only in Utah and five other western states. Its extraordinary longevity and ability to adapt and survive in extremely harsh environmental conditions above 10,000 feet embodies the investigative spirit and mission of the Utah Center on Aging.
